Mark Adams has devoted the past 25 years to revitalizing neglected and unsafe properties throughout California. As the President of California Receivership Group (CRG), he has been at the forefront of health and safety receiverships, a legal process designed to address properties that have fallen into severe disrepair. Throughout his career, he has been appointed by 179 state and federal judges to oversee the rehabilitation of more than 360 properties across 36 counties and 126 cities. His expertise in this field has also expanded his work into other states, including Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Health and safety receiverships are essential for tackling properties that pose significant risks to their communities. Adams has effectively used this process to ensure properties can finance their repairs, preventing the burden from falling on taxpayers. His work spans a variety of challenges, such as unpermitted construction, fire damage, structural instability, and other hazardous conditions that endanger residents.

In 1999, Mark Adams made history as the first receiver appointed under the California Health and Safety Code. This milestone was in response to a critical situation at a 66-unit apartment complex, where extreme neglect had tragically led to the death of an infant. This case marked a pivotal moment in his career, motivating him to establish CRG to provide comprehensive solutions for communities grappling with unsafe properties.

Throughout his career, Adams has been recognized for his contributions to the field. In 2022, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) awarded him the "Distinguished Entrepreneurial Alumnus Award," and the Los Angeles Business Journal honored CRG as an outstanding family-owned business.

Before founding CRG, Adams played a significant role in the Blue Ribbon Citizens Committee on Slum Housing, which was instrumental in expanding Los Angeles's slum housing inspection program. His work with the committee exposed widespread neglect by slumlords, who frequently ignored essential maintenance, leaving countless apartments in unsafe and unhealthy conditions.

Mark Adams's extensive experience in real estate finance and public service provided a strong foundation for his receivership work. Before CRG, he held leadership roles at Civitas Housing Company and De Miranda Management, where he managed affordable housing projects. He also served as Director of Public Affairs at Fannie Mae and worked as an attorney specializing in corporate and housing finance.

In addition to his professional achievements, Adams has mentored many of California's health and safety receivers and is frequently invited to speak at housing conferences. His work has also influenced significant legal decisions, including a landmark ruling by the California Supreme Court that upheld the use of health and safety receiverships.

Born in Chicago and raised in Los Angeles, he has deep ties to his community. He and his wife Janis have been married for nearly 35 years and have raised three children, two of whom attended Harvard. They are also proud grandparents to six grandchildren. Adams enthusiastically supports the Los Angeles Dodgers and is known for his strong family bonds and sense of humor.
